Echocardiography

Echocardiography

Echocardiography is performed and supervised by experts in echocardiography for LV function, RV function, Valvular function, Diastolic function.  The latest in 3-Dimensional Transthoracic echo for cardiac volumes and function, Speckle Tracking Strain deformation imaging for myocardial function, 3-Dimensional TransOesophageal (3DTOE) imaging for mitral regurgitation and structural heart disease, and TOE imaging for procedural planning and intra-operative imaging.

Stress Echocardiography is the #1 diagnostic test for cardiac chest pain, due to its high accuracy, non-invasive nature, without ionizing radiation and no injections or medication required.  Stress Echocardiography involves exercising on a treadmill or bicycle followed by high-resolution echocardiographic imaging of the beating heart in real time.

Bulk-billing is  available for health-care card, pensioners, or on request.

Coronary CT Angiography

CT Coronary Angiography (CTCA) and Coronary Calcium Scoring are non-invasive state-of-the-art tests for the evaluation of coronary artery disease.

CT Coronary Angiography (CCTA) is a non-invasive coronary angiogram, suitable for patients with chest symptoms consistent with coronary artery disease ("blockages in the arteries"). CTCA is now available with low-dose scanning reported by Prof Hamilton-Craig at Noosa Radiology, Noosaville, and Lumus Radiology, St Vincents Northside, Chermside Brisbane.

Cardiovascular

Cardiovascular MRI

Cardiaovascular Magnetic Resonance (CMR) is the gold standard non-invasive technique for measurement of cardiac function. CMR is the best technique for the assessment of structural heart disease (eg hypertrophic cardiomyopathy), heart failure (dilated and other cardiomyopathies such as amyloid), Covid-19 Vaccine-associated Myocarditis (item 63399), Arrhythmic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy (ARVC, item 63395) and Adult Congenital Heart Disease.

Prof. Hamilton-Craig reports Cardiac MRI at:  Noosa Radiology, Noosaville; Queensland X-Ray South Brisbane; and Cardiac Neuro Vascular Imaging (CNVI) Sydney.
